Subsidy to Promote Advanced Vocational Training

Getting money

For a maximum period of 4 years, this program provides financial support for single parents who are studying at a training institute to obtain a qualification that enhances their employability.

Eligibility Criteria

An unmarried person with a dependent child under 20 years old, who meets all of the following criteria:

  • The applicant must have an address in Fukuoka City.
  • The applicant must receive the Child Rearing Financial Support Allowance or have an income level equivalent to that of an allowance recipient.
  • The applicant must have completed at least one year of the curriculum at a training institute and be expected to obtain the applicable qualification.
  • The applicant must be recognized as having difficulty in balancing work or childcare with training.
  • The applicant must not have received any training promotion subsidies in the past.

*Those receiving subsidies with the same purpose as this one, such as subsidized job training under the Job Applicant Support Program, the extended training subsidy stipulated in Article 24 of the Employment Insurance Law, or the subsidized education and training support stipulated in Article 11-2 of the Supplementary Provisions of the Employment Insurance Law, are NOT eligible for this subsidy.

Eligible Job Qualifications

Nurses, Assistant Nurses, Nursing Care Workers, Child Care Workers, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Dental Hygienists, Cosmetologists, Social Workers, Licensed Confectioners, Cooks, Nutritionists, Barbers, Moxibustionists, Acupuncturists, Judo Physiotherapists, Midwives, Speech Pathologists, Clinical Engineers, Dental Technicians, Mental Health Workers, and Class 2 Auto Mechanics
*As a rule, students must attend school, but correspondence courses may be allowed for those seeking certification while working.

Regarding Temporary Measures for the 2022 Academic Year

Only for the 2022 academic year, requirements for the period of study and eligibility have been relaxed.

Subsidy Amounts
Promotion Subsidies
  • A monthly stipend of 100,000 yen (140,000 yen for the final year of study) for households that are exempt from municipal taxes
  • Households paying municipal tax will receive 70,500 yen per month (115,000 yen for the final year of study)

In addition to the above amount, households with three or more dependents under 20 years old will receive 10,000 yen per child from the third child onward.

Completion Assistance Benefit
  • Municipal tax-exempt households: 50,000 yen
  • Municipal tax-paying households: 25,000 yen

*Applications for this benefit must be made separately from the promotion subsidy. (Certain conditions apply.)

Payment Period

The entire period of training (maximum of 4 years)

*Those who wish to receive benefits should be sure to inquire about the procedures before beginning their training.
*Please note that the benefit will be paid starting the month when the application is received.
